Soil is the most important asset for the gardener. The plants grow in it, anchor themselves with their roots and from it they receive all the nutrients they need to grow and thrive. So it's absolutely important, the soil to care for and keep healthy.

A good way to support all of this is to grow vegetables in mixed crops and rotate crops annually. You change the types of vegetables on a bed in a four-year cycle, sorted according to nutrient requirements and/or specific plant families, in order to prevent the soil from leaching and certain plant pests such as harmful viruses, bacteria and fungi from settling in the soil. It is therefore important to know what nutrient requirements a plant has and which plant family it belongs to. Therefore, all crops are divided into four categories: heavy feeders, medium feeders, weak feeders and green manure.

This seed set contains organic seeds for 6 types of green manure that are used to improve the soil in raised beds:
  • Marigold (Calendula officinalis)
Uncomplicated, colorful medicinal plant that has an anti-inflammatory effect and promotes wound healing. However, it also has many other excellent qualities.
  • Borage (Borago officinalis)
When used fresh, the leaves are a typical spice for cucumber salad, quark and cream cheese preparations and are an integral part of the 'Frankfurt Green Sauce'.
  • Yellow spice marigold, narrow-leaved marigold (Tagetes tenuifolia)
Lushly flowering ornamental and spice plant with bright yellow edible flowers with a citrus aroma. Frost-sensitive insect magnet.
  • Bee friend, tansy phacelia (Phacelia tanacetifolia)
The tansy phacelia is extremely popular as a source of nectar for bumblebees, bees and butterflies. Because of the beautiful flowers, it is also an ornamental in the cottage garden and a valued green manure.
  • Sunflower (Helianthus annuus)
Impressive large flowers until autumn - bee pasture and bird food included.
  • Common corn wheel (Agrostemma githago)
A beautiful arable weed from the Mediterranean region that has now landed on the red list of endangered plants. Good nectar plant for beneficial insects.

The seed bags and detailed sowing instructions in German and English are packaged in beautiful gift packaging - a great, sustainable gift for the garden. Every plant lover will be happy about this.

The organic seeds in this set are seed-proof. This means that seeds can later be obtained from the plants for further propagation without any problems.
